IRD Payday Filing for PAYE Returns
Chances are if you are an Employer you will soon receive correspondence directly from the IRD in regards to payday filing.
What is Payday Filing?
Payday filing is an online filing requirement where you send your employment information (the pay details of your employees) with your normal pay cycle; provide employee details for new and departing employees (including start and end date, contact details and date of birth); file electronically if your annual PAYE and ESCT deductions are $50,000 or more, or file by paper if these annual deductions are less than $50,000; and correct your employment information online.
Currently, payday filing is voluntary but will become compulsory on 1 April 2019.
IRD have advised us that they will send emails and letters to all employers on 15th October 2018 as a reminder of the requirement to shift to payday filing. They will also be calling all employers from late October 2018 through to April 2019 to encourage employers to shift early and talk them through the process. Then again in November 2018, February and March 2019.
